FAFSA Deadlines 2023–24 | FAFSA deadline 2024

To be considered for federal student aid for the 2023–24 award year, you can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form between Oct. 1, 2022, and 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2024. Any FAFSA corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 14, 2024.

However, many states and colleges have earlier deadlines for applying for state and institutional financial aid. Find your state’s deadline. Check with your college or career school about its deadlines.

Because of the variation in state and college deadlines, it’s highly recommended that you fill out the FAFSA form as soon as you can on or after Oct. 1 to ensure that you don’t miss out on available aid.

FAQ’s-FAFSA Deadlines 2023 PDF

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a crucial step in securing financial aid for college or university education in the United States. Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQ) about FAFSA deadlines for the 2023-2024 academic year:

Q: What is the FAFSA?

Ans: The FAFSA is a form that students and their families fill out to apply for federal student financial aid, including grants, work-study, and loans.

Q: When can I submit the FAFSA for the 2023-2024 academic year?

Ans: The FAFSA for the 2023-2024 academic year became available on October 1, 2022.

Q: What is the FAFSA deadline for the 2023-2024 academic year?

Ans: FAFSA deadlines vary by state and institution. It’s crucial to check the specific deadlines for the colleges you are applying to and your state’s deadline. Some states and colleges have limited funds and may distribute aid on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s recommended to submit the FAFSA as early as possible.

Q: Where can I find the FAFSA deadlines for my state and colleges?

Ans: You can find state and college-specific FAFSA deadlines on the Federal Student Aid website (fafsa.gov) or by contacting the financial aid office of the colleges you plan to apply to. Some states also provide FAFSA deadline information on their respective websites.

Q: Is there a federal deadline for the FAFSA?

Ans: While there is no federal deadline for the FAFSA, it’s essential to submit it as early as possible to maximize your eligibility for financial aid programs.

Q: Can I still submit the FAFSA after the deadline?

Ans: Yes, you can still submit the FAFSA after the deadline. However, you may miss out on certain types of aid, as some programs have limited funds and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s advisable to submit the FAFSA even if you’ve missed the deadline, as you may still be eligible for federal aid.

Q: What information do I need to complete the FAFSA?

Ans: You will need personal and financial information, including your Social Security number, income tax returns, W-2 forms, bank statements, and information about your assets and family size.

Q: Can I estimate my financial information on the FAFSA and update it later?

Ans: Yes, you can estimate your financial information if you haven’t completed your tax return yet and update it later. It’s crucial to provide accurate information to ensure you receive the correct amount of financial aid.

Q: Is the FAFSA only for federal aid?

Ans: No, the FAFSA is also used by colleges and universities to determine eligibility for their institutional aid programs and some state-based aid programs.

Q: Do I need to submit the FAFSA every year?

Ans: Yes, you should submit the FAFSA every year you plan to attend college or university, as your financial situation may change, and your eligibility for aid may vary from year to year.

Remember that FAFSA deadlines can be different for each institution and state, so it’s essential to check the specific deadlines for the schools you are interested in and your state’s financial aid programs. Submitting your FAFSA early can increase your chances of receiving the most financial aid possible.
